Due to road closures to facilitate the MS Amlin World Triathlon, to be held Saturday, 27 April, 2019, the Department of Public Transportation (DPT)will be re-routing scheduled bus routes between the hours of 6:00am and 7:00pm, and creating a temporary bus terminal.
The DPT advises that The Central Bus Terminal will be closed to all vehicular traffic and pedestrians between the hours of 6:00am and 11:30am.
During this time, a temporary bus terminal will be in place with buses arriving and departing the City of Hamilton from both sides of Victoria Street, between Cedar Avenue and Brunswick Street. The cashier kiosk will also be closed over this period and, pending clearance by race officials, will re-open at 11:30am. Notice of these changes will be posted on the electronic display kiosks located at The Central Bus Terminal.
The re-routed bus routes are as follow:
- Buses travelling from the west on routes #7, #8, and #2, inbound to the City of Hamilton, will travel via Rural Hill to Trimingham Hill round about, onto South Road, left onto Tee Street, left onto Middle Road, right onto Montpelier Road, Parsons Road, North Street, Angle Street, Cedar Avenue, and Victoria Street. All buses travelling west, outbound from the City of Hamilton, will follow this route in reverse.
- Buses travelling from the east on routes #10 and #11 will remain on route inbound and outbound of the City of Hamilton, and may experience minimal delays.
- Buses travelling on routes #1 and #3 will turn right onto Tee Street, left onto Middle Road, right onto Montpelier Road, Parsons Road, North Street, Angle Street, Cedar Avenue, and Victoria Street. These trips will follow this route in reverse out of the City of Hamilton.
Please be advised that Point Finger Road will not be accessible by bus. Persons traveling to and from the King Edward Memorial Hospital will be required to disembark at the stops on routes 2, 7 and 8 near Peace Lutheran Church on South Road to gain access.
The Department of Public Transportation takes this opportunity to thank the public for their ongoing support and attention to these changes.
