Through a joint partnership with the Department of Workforce Development (DWD) and the Bermuda Cricket Board, individuals attending cricket matches will have the opportunity to complete a signup form provided as they enter, to obtain employment and career advancement opportunities and training facilitated by the DWD.
“This partnership between the Department of Workforce Development and the Bermuda Cricket Board exemplifies this Government’s commitment to getting Bermudians employed.” Said the Minister of Labour, Jason Hayward, “This is yet another way to reach members of our community who require assistance securing employment, with training and development, looking to further their careers, or considering a change of career. I urge individuals in need of assistance to take advantage of this opportunity. The help is available, and I only ask that you take the first step.”
BCB Executive Director Cal Blankendal said, “This collaboration intends to bring those seeking employment and the Department of Workforce Development together through sports and community-minded programming. The BCB sees this as an excellent opportunity to create positive opportunities for Bermudians of all ages. We believe that by removing barriers for those seeking employment, Bermuda’s communities will benefit both on and off the field.”
This employment initiative will first feature at 3:00 pm on Sunday, 29 August, at the St. David’s Cricket Club, with the St. David’s County Cricket Club vs St. George’s Cricket Club match.
