The Ministry of Health recently held their annual Healthy Schools Awards Ceremony for public and private schools that consistently promote healthy nutrition, eating and wellness among its students and staff.
The Minister of Health, the Hon. Kim Wilson and the Minister of Education, the Hon. Diallo Rabain and the Commissioner of Education, Kalmar Richards presented Gold Star Award of Achievement awards to 23 primary, middle and senior schools.
Minister Kim Wilson said, “Our strategy for a Well Bermuda targets every age group across the life course. We realize that a large portion of a child’s growth takes place while they are a student. Therefore, schools are the ideal place to teach important lessons about the relationship between academics and nutrition, health and wellness. The collaboration between the Departments of Education and Health to manage the Healthy Schools programme provides helps us reach our common goal is to ensure that our school students are healthy and positioned for success.”
