Ministry Seeks Public Opinion of Electric Buses

“The Ministry of Transport is committed to building a sustainable and fully electric transportation infrastructure that is safe for the environment,” said the Minister of Transport, the Hon. Wayne Furbert, JP, MP.

Minister Furbert added, “Bermuda has already experienced success this summer following the launch of the first thirty electric public buses. The buses have been in operation for over six months and have saved the Department of Public Transportation (DPT) an estimated $50,000 in fuel costs. These savings do not include maintenance costs, which are expected to save nearly half compared to diesel buses.

“We are pleased with the initial reports, and now we would like to hear from the public their views on the electric buses.

“Today, we will launch a public opinion survey. If you’ve been a passenger or have feedback about the buses, we encourage the public to share your thoughts on www.forum.gov.bm. The survey ends on December 30th 2022.

“The Ministry of Transport looks forward to working with stakeholders to prepare for the transition to a full fleet of electric buses by 2030.”
