“I encourage eligible residents to take advantage of the opportunity to receive these newer COVID-19 booster shots designed to offer a defence against some of the newer variants,” said Minister of Health Kim Wilson as she encourages residents to consider getting COVID-19 booster shots.
St. John’s Ambulance will host a public pop-up clinic for essential and health workers and residents aged 50 and over on Saturday, 19 November, for the Moderna COVID-19 booster shot.
The location will be at 21 Point Finger Road, Paget, DV04 (next to Charities House) and will be open to walk-ins from members of the public between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m.
The shots, which do not require an appointment, will be offered at no charge. However, donations to the St John’s Ambulance would be greatly appreciated.
Eligibility for COVID-19 Moderna Booster:
1. You must have completed your primary series (2 doses) of the COVID-19 vaccine.
2. Your last dose of the Covid-19 vaccine &/or a booster dose must be at least five months ago.
3. You must be 50 years and over.
4. For people aged 18 – 49, you must be a health care worker, essential worker, or immunocompromised.
Eligible residents should bring proof of the date of their last COVID-19 vaccine and a picture ID.
Minister Wilson added: “I realise that many in the community may be fatigued by the pandemic and may not be as inclined to get a COVID-19 booster shot now as they were before.
“However, the boosters still offer significant protection for our older population, especially our seniors, vulnerable residents and those who work on the front lines of healthcare.
“Bermuda continues to see COVID-19 infections and related deaths. The boosters offer a great mechanism to mitigate against the risk of someone developing serious health complications due to the virus and complications from ‘long Covid’.”
