Seatrade Global Cruise Conference

The Hon Wayne Furbert, JP MP, Minister of Transport attended the Seatrade Global Cruise Conference in Miami Florida form April 4th through 11th 2024. The Minister was accompanied by the Section Head of Transport. Also attending the conference were representatives from the Bermuda Tourism Authority. 

The Minister of Transport engaged with key stakeholders, industry leaders and decision-makers, fostering valuable relationships critical for future collaborations and partnerships. 

 

Air Service Development - United Airlines

The Minister of Transport, the Hon Wayne L Furbert, JP MP  met with Executives from United Airlines in Chicago, IL. The Minister was accompanied by Mr. Lester Nelson, CEO, Bermuda Airport Authority, Ms. Erin Smith, COO, Bermuda Tourism Authority and Mr. Aaron Adderley, President, Skyport. Following the meetings, the Minister is pleased to announce that United Airlines will extend its Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) seasonal service to 26 October 2024. 

Air Service Development - Air Canada

The Hon Wayne L Furbert, JP MP, Minister of Transport met with Air Canada Executives to discuss enhanced airline service to Bermuda. The Minister was accompanied by members from the Bermuda Airport Authority, Skyport Ltd., and Ailevon Pacific Airline Consultants (APAC). The meetings were positive and the Minister is optimistic regarding future air service between Bermuda and Canada. 

Air Service Development - American Airlines

The Hon Wayne L Furbert, JP MP, Minister of Transport attended meetings with executives from American Airlines to discuss airlift, particularly the return of the Miami flight. The Minister was accompanied by representatives from the Air Service Development Committee. American Airlines subsequently announced the Miami route will return to Bermuda beginning 5th November 2023.

The Hon Wayne Furbert, JP MP, Minister of Transport visited Delta Air Lines' Headquarters in Atlanta to discuss potential expansion of service to Bermdua. The Minister said, "The discussion with Delta executives proved to be fruitful and validated the mutual understanding between the two parties regarding air service for Bermuda. We look forward to exploring further opportunities and strengthening our partnership to promote Bermuda as a preimier travel desitination." The Minister was accompanied by Mr.

Breeze Airways Discussions

The Minister of Transport, the Hon Wayne L. Furbert, JP MP, met with the founder and CEO of Breeze Airways in New York City. The Minister spoke about the Bermuda market and the forthcoming hotel developments and was accomanied by Lester Nelson of the Bermuda Airport Authority and Aaron Adderley of Skyport. The Ministry aims to strengthen existing partnerships and attract new airlines to increse the island's air travel network. 

SeaTrade Cruise Global Conference

The Hon Wayne L Furbert, JP MP, Minister of Transport, attended the annual Seatrade Cruise Global Conference held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, March 27-29, accompanied by the Section Head of the Transport Planning Team, Stacey Evans. The Minister met with various Cruise Line Executives including Bermuda's cruise line contract partners, Norwegian Cruise Line and Royal Caribbean Group. Other meetings included Carnival Corporation & PLC, Disney Cruise Lines, Seabourn, Silversea and the Scenic Group, as well as meetings with the host ports of Boston (MassPort) and Baltimore.

Meetings with Cruise Line Partners

The Hon Minister Wayne L Furbert attended meetings with executive representatives from Royal Carribean Group, Norweigen Cruise Lines, and Carnival Cruise Line to discuss planned cruises for 2023 and beyond. The Minister was accompanied by the Transport Planning Team liaison.
