Primary 1 Screening

What is it?

° There are 3 components to P1 screening: Speech and Language (S&L), Occupational Therapy (OT) and Physical Therapy (PT).

° Each area will assess the student's abilities to make sure that he or she is age appropriate. In the event that a student does not pass the screening, another appointment will be made for the student to be fully assessed.

Who gets screened?

° All students entering public primary school in September 2025, who have not been previously identified, will need to be screened.

When is the screening?

° July 1st — 11th, 2025

Where will the screening take place?

° All screenings take place at Harrington Sound Primary School, 6 Harrington Hundreds Rd., Smiths.

How does the screening work?

° Parents will be contacted to set up an appointment with therapists. The screenings can last between 20-60 minutes depending on how many screenings. Example: A student may need to be screened for Speech and Language only, or he/she may need to be screened for S&L, OT, and PT.
