Citterio Salame Sticks Health Alert
The Ministry of Health is aware of a Public Health Alert from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) relating to a salmonella outbreak linked to “Citterio Premium Italian-Style Salame Sticks ALL NATURAL”.
The Italian-style salami stick items were produced before October 25, 2021, and consist of 2-oz packages containing Citterio “Premium Italian-Style Salame Sticks ALL NATURAL” with “best by” dates up to January 23, 2022, located next to the barcode. The products are subject to the public health alert bear establishment number “EST. 4010” inside the USDA mark of inspection.
In the United States, a recall was not requested because FSIS has not identified a specific contaminated lot or lots. It is believed that potentially affected products are no longer available to be directly purchased by retail consumers. Through consultation with importers in Bermuda, the Government is aware that retailers had already been alerted and action taken. Out of an abundance of caution, however, the Ministry of Health advises retailers and customers to be alert to these products. In line with advice given in the United States, we would advise consumers not to consume the affected product and to either throw them away or return to the place of purchase.
