Businesses Encouraged to Partner with DWD in Providing Summer Employment Opportunities for Students in Youth Employment Programmes
All local businesses are encouraged to partner with the Department of Workforce Development (DWD) to support the development of our youth and Bermuda's workforce by providing summer employment opportunities for students participating in the Youth Employment Programmes (YEPs).
The Minister of Labour, the Hon. Jason Hayward, JP, MP, explained, "The Department of Workforce Development Youth Employment Programmes provides real-life on-the-job work experience for Bermudian high school and university students. Working and collaborating in real work environments is invaluable to an individual's growth and development and helps set realistic expectations of what is required when entering the workforce."
In support of businesses participating in the programmes, DWD will hold two virtual information sessions on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at 10 am and 3 pm, providing employers clarity around:
- The goals and objectives
- Expectations of participating employers
- Supervisor responsibilities and expectations
- Student responsibilities and expectations
