Aliyyah Ahad
Head of European Affairs & Policy, Brussels Office
Aliyyah Ahad has been the representative of the Government of Bermuda in Brussels since October 2020. She is a public policy expert with experience living and working in Bermuda, Toronto, Paris, Rabat, Washington D.C., Oxford, London, and Brussels.
Ms. Ahad previously worked for the Government of Bermuda in the Cabinet Office, Ombudsman’s Office, Human Rights Commission, London Office, and Bermuda Economic Development Corporation. She also managed a research project for the public affairs firm, WPP Government and Public Sector Practice, on how to improve communications between public and humanitarian sectors and recently arrived refugees in Berlin, Germany.
Ms. Ahad moved to Brussels in 2016 to work for the Migration Policy Institute, a policy thinktank, and has been working in Brussels in the field of European affairs and policy ever since.
She is the author and co-author of over a dozen published reports, and has organised, moderated, and participated in expert roundtable meetings and webinars with policymakers at the EU, Member State, and subnational levels.
Ms. Ahad holds a Master of Science in migration studies and Master of Public Policy, with distinction, from the University of Oxford, where she studied as a Rhodes Scholar.
She also holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and sociology from the University of Toronto, with high distinction. Ms. Ahad also spent a year studying at Sciences Po Paris, where she received an exchange programme certificate, cum laude. She is a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Shapers and the African Caribbean Pacific Young Professionals Network. She speaks English and French.
