CedarBridge Academy Students Successfully Complete Professional-Student Relationship Programme
As CedarBridge Academy students prepare to graduate tomorrow (June 28), earlier this month, seventeen (17) students from the school ranging from S2 – S4 were awarded certificates to mark their achievement of concluding the Professional-Student Relationship Programme (PSRP).
On hand to make the presentations were the Deputy Premier and Minister of Home Affairs the Hon. Walter Roban and the Minister of Labour, Community Affairs, and Sports, the Hon. Lovitta Foggo.
Led by the Office of Project Management and Procurement, the Professional-Student Relationship Programme is a partnership initiative with the Department of Workforce Development, the Ministry of Public Works, the Department of Planning and CedarBridge Academy.
This is the second year of the programme, which affords young people at the senior school level the opportunity to receive hands-on architecture, engineering, contracting and construction training.
Two students who said they “benefitted greatly” from the training programme included, Cedarbridge Academy Head Boy Jaire Lawrence Salaam and Lilanna Moniz.
Jaire said, “I was able to view a lot of careers through this programme. We were able to gain knowledge about various careers involved in construction. Through this programme I realized my love for civil engineering and will be pursuing this field of study at Dalhousie University.”
Liliana said, “It opened my eyes about what I actually want to do. Through this programme I was able to decide that I want to pursue interior architecture and have already been accepted to a university.”
Minister Foggo said, “Opportunities like the Professional-Student Relationship programme are integral to our young people’s success and development. The Department of Workforce Development is pleased to partner with the various Government Ministries and departments to ensure that our students have this kind of unique career exposure. I wish to thank all involved for taking the time to guide our young people towards achieving their goals.”
