Minister expresses support for Cultural Exchange Music Programme
Recently, the Department of Community Affairs and the Bermuda Arts Council donated a combined $6,500 to the Eddie Ming Drum School and Rhythm Lab. The funds will aid in the hosting of an upcoming student workshop, which features Cuban guest percussionist Angel Luis.
Earlier this week, the Minister of Labour, Community Affairs and Sports, the Hon. Lovitta Foggo JP, MP, was delighted to welcome Mr. Ming and Mr. Luis to the Ministry Offices, where she expressed her support for the cultural musical exchange programme. Additionally, from October 21 – November 1, Mr. Ming will host a student workshop and an “Understudy Gala Students’ Latin Jazz Recital”, the latter of which will be under Minister Foggo’s Patronage.
The public will be aware that Mr. Ming is a celebrated local musician who is also an, author, professor, founder and director of the Eddie Ming Drum School and Rhythm Lab – a small progressive drum school that’s been in existence for 50 years. For several decades, Mr. Ming has spearheaded a musical cultural exchange programme for young people in an effort to expand their creative and musical awareness.
