Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport Senator, the Hon. Owen K. Darrell was invited to attend the Iconic Summit in Miami, Florida, from December 6th to December 8th 2024.  The Summit was hosted by the Hon. Ian Gooding-Edghill, Minister of Tourism and International Transport, Barbados, and by Mr. Michael Bayley, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean International.

CTO Business Meetings

Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport Senator, the Hon. Owen K. Darrell was invited to attend the CTO Business Meetings hosted by the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) in the Cayman Island from September 2nd to September 5th, 2024.

 

Minister Darrell met with other regional tourism ministers including the outgoing CTO chairman, Kenneth Bryan, Minister of Tourism and Ports of the Cayman Islands and newly elected CTO Chairman, the Hon. Ian Gooding-Edghill, Minister of Barbados. 

 

2024 Paris Olympics

Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport, Senator the Hon. Owen K. Darrell, JP attended the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris from August 3rd to August 8th.   

 

CTO June Business Meetings Conference (Caribbean Week 2024)

Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport Senator, the Hon. Owen K. Darrell was invited to attend the Caribbean Week 2024 hosted by the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) in New York from June 16 - 21, 2024.

 

This year’s event at the InterContinental New York Times Square, marked the organization's 35th anniversary. It brought together the region's finest tourism representatives and industry leaders under the theme ‘Connecting the Globe, Celebrating Diversity. '

51st Carifta Games

Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport Senator, the Hon. Owen K. Darrell was invited to attend the 51st CARIFTA Games which took place from Saturday, March 30th to Monday, April 1st.  Minister Darrell joined other Sports Ministers in the Caribbean at the Kirani James Athletics Stadium in Queens Park, St. Georges, Grenada.

 

2024 first-quarter Caribbean Tourism Organization [CTO] Meeting

Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport Senator, the Hon. Owen K. Darrell was invited to attend the 2024 first-quarter Caribbean Tourism Organization [CTO] Meeting in Saint Martin, which took place from February 5 - February 6, 2024.   Minister Darrell joined other Tourism Ministers in the Caribbean regions.

Third World Anti-Doping Agency’s (WADA) Forum for Caribbean Ministers

Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport Senator, the Hon. Owen K. Darrell was invited to attend the third annual World Anti-Doping Agency [WADA] Forum which took place from January 15 – 17, 2024.   Minister Darrell joined several other Sports Ministers in the Caribbean regions.

 

Bermuda Saks Fifth Avenue Holiday Window

Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport, Senator, the Hon. Owen K. Darrell was invited to attend the Bermuda Saks Fifth Avenue Holiday Window which took place at Saks, Fifth Avenue in New York from December 14th to December 15th, 2023.   

This travel will provide opportunities for the Minister and the attending technical officers to: -

10th Commonwealth Youth Ministers Meeting

Minister of Youth, Culture and Sport,  Senator, the Hon. Owen K. Darrell was invited to attend the 10th Commonwealth Youth Ministers Meeting which took place at Marlborough House in London, United Kingdom from September 11th to September 15th, 2023.   The Commonwealth Meeting is held every four years, addressing youth policy for Commonwealth member states.  The meeting contributes to broader social and sustainable development goals from a youth development perspective.

16th Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023

Minister of Youth, Culture and Sport, Senator the Hon. Owen K. Darrell, JP attended the 16th Special Olympics World Games 2023 which took place in Berlin, Germany from June 16 through June 25th, 2023.   

On Saturday June 17th, 2023 a 33-strong delegation participated in the Opening Ceremony of the Special Olympics World Games. The Special Olympics World Games is a global organization that serves athletes with intellectual disabilities working with hundreds of thousands of volunteers and coaches annually.
